Why Girl Child Education Matters
Education is a fundamental right that empowers girls to reach their full potential. At Dicta Care Initiative, we believe that educating girls is key to breaking the cycle of poverty and fostering sustainable development. Educated girls are more likely to become leaders, innovators, and change-makers in their communities.

By supporting girl child education, we are not only investing in the future of individual girls but also in the future of entire communities. Educated girls are more likely to earn higher incomes, participate in political processes, and contribute to the health and prosperity of their families and societies.
Current State of Girl Child Education
Despite progress, millions of girls around the world still face barriers to education. Here are some key statistics that highlight the urgency of our cause:
- 130 Million Girls: Around 130 million girls globally are denied the right to education. This includes 32 million girls of primary school age and 97 million of secondary school age. These numbers reflect systemic issues and the dire need for focused interventions (OHCHR) (UNICEF Data) (World Bank).
- Gender Parity in Enrollment: While primary and secondary school enrollment rates are nearing gender parity in many regions, the completion rates for girls are notably lower, particularly in low-income countries. For example, only 63% of girls complete primary school compared to 67% of boys, and the gap widens at the secondary level (World Bank).
- Impact of Poverty and Conflict: Girls in fragile and conflict-affected regions are 2.5 times more likely to be out of school than boys. Additionally, in these areas, girls are 90% more likely to be out of secondary school compared to those in more stable environments (World Bank).
- Violence and Safety: Approximately 60 million girls experience sexual assault on their way to or at school annually. This violence leads to higher dropout rates and significant mental and physical health issues, further hindering their educational progress (World Bank).
- Child Marriage and Early Pregnancy: Child marriage remains a critical barrier, as girls who marry young are more likely to drop out of school and face higher levels of violence and early pregnancy. This perpetuates a cycle of poverty and limited opportunities for both the girls and their future children (World Bank).
These statistics underscore the need for comprehensive strategies to ensure that all girls have access to safe, quality education, enabling them to realize their full potential and contribute to their communities and economies.

Our Approach

We collaborate with schools to create safe and supportive learning environments for girls. This includes improving school infrastructure, implementing anti-bullying policies, and providing training on gender sensitivity.
Health and Hygiene Programs
Our health and hygiene programs address issues such as menstrual hygiene management, ensuring that girls have the knowledge and resources to manage their periods with dignity.
Mentorship and Support Networks
We establish mentorship programs and support networks that connect girls with role models and provide them with the encouragement and guidance they need to succeed.
Policy Advocacy
We advocate for policies that support girl child education at the local, national, and international levels. This includes lobbying for free and compulsory education and the implementation of laws that protect girls’ rights.
